American mixed martial artist Jon Jones failed a drug test and got suspended as he tested positive for turinabol, a banned steroid, reported MMA Fighting.

The 30-year-old Jones underwent an in-competition drug test prior to his fight -- the UFC 214 -- with Daniel Cormier that happened on July 29 in Anaheim, California.

He won and redeemed himself as Light Heavyweight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), but failing the drug test could mean he could be stripped of the title.

Malki Kawa, his agent, said that Jones was “devastated . . . hurt.”

“He was being perfect and double-checking everything to [prevent] something like this from happening to him,” Kawa said.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s unreal, and we’re all pretty much shocked . . . devastated.”

For Kawa, it was “another tainted supplement.”

In 2016 at UFC 200 -- where he also faced Cormier --  he failed the drug test and was suspended for a year. He tested positive after taking a “tainted sexual performance enhancement pill,” according to the report.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the national anti-doping organization in America and a UFC partner, said that Jones will be rendered “the opportunity to be heard, confront and cross examine the evidence.”

“It’s only fair to let due process occur before drawing any conclusions about Mr. Jones,” USADA said.

Jones could be suspended up to four years.

When this latest drug test fail of Jones reached Cormier, the 38-year-old fighter felt “disappointed” and became “emotional,” quoted the site.

When UFC 214 concluded, Cormier accepted his defeat and regarded Jones as “the better man.”

“We as athletes are entitled to due process, and I will refrain from saying much more until I know exactly what happened,” said Cormier.
