Netizens descended on Kate Hudson after they found her remark that appeared in Cosmopolitan magazine’s October issue as "insensitive."
In the Cosmo questionnaire, the 38-year-old actress and mother of two wrote “Have a C-section!” as her reply to “The Laziest Thing I’ve Ever Done.”
Hudson had a C-section with her first child, Ryder, now 13, her son with ex-husband, singer Chris Robinson. She had explained, in previous interviews, that she opted for the procedure since her labor was not progressing.
Even though Hudson chose her own C-section, some angry fans still called her out on the remark online.
One fan tweeted that she “used to love #KateHudson, but I lost all respect for her. I have had 2 c sections out of necessity, so not lazy, took months to recover.”
Another posted: “Exactly!! How in the world is having your insides cut open & moved around to deliver your baby lazy?? #KateHudson is bum AF for sayin that.”
Still, there were other Twitter users who read that Hudson's remark was not really made to criticize women who need to give birth via Cesarean.
One male Twitter user posted: “Most C-sections are not a choice hers was so get over yourself! Her opinion her choice. #respect #katehudson. #crazypeople.”
The National Center for Health Statistics revealed that approximately one-third of all US births are via C-section, a percent that is higher than in most countries elsewhere around the world. Based on a study by the National Institutes of Health in 2010, elective C-sections -- like what Hudson had -- accounted for just under 10 percent of births in the US.
Hudson gave birth to her second son Bingham, now 6, her child with ex-fiancé, singer Matt Bellamy, via normal delivery.
