[아시아뉴스통신=레악카나 기자] The Thaechon fish breeding station in North Phyongan Province in North Korea has successfully bred more than 30,000 mandarin fish fries by early June. Last January the province built a base housing an indoor fish breeding station, 10 fish ponds and others, which covers an area of over 10 000 square meters.
The station put the breeding of mandarin fish which requires high quality water, and has intensified research into earlier spawning.It also solved technical problems in artificial breeding of feed fish for mandarin fish. It released more than 15 000 mandarin fish fries and fries of feed fish into the Thaechon River late in June. Meanwhile, Preparatory work for sea urchin farming is brisk in fishery stations on the east coast of North Korea.
The North Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau has made a survey of mineral resources to secure the waters favorable to sea urchin farming. It has also overhauled the existing breeding grounds to lay material and technical foundations for sea urchin farming. Fishery stations under the South Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau are also active in sea urchin farming.
