[Asia News = Reporter Reakkana] MANILA: The reported death toll in the wake of Severe Tropical Storm Maring (Kompasu) that ripped through Northern Luzon rose to 30, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday, PH Inquirer reported. The NCRRMC, however, pointed out that only nineteen of the fatalities have been confirmed, but the 11 others were still for validation.

Most of the deaths were due to flash floods and landslides. The disaster agency also reported 14 missing and three injured individuals. A total of 50,040 families or 194,677 people were displaced by the storm. Maring left a trail of destruction and an estimated P1 billion damage to agriculture.
