[Asia News = Reporter Reakkana] The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated some P124 million worth agricultural products that were attempted to be smuggled into the country. In a statement, the BOC said the agricultural products were consigned to Daniry Consumer Goods Trading and Jeroce Consumer Goods Trading, adding that they all came to China, Manila Bulletin reported.

“Both shipments were found to contain frozen poultry products, which were not in the original declaration,” said BOC Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Raniel Ramiro. Daniry Consumer Goods Trading declared a shipment for hotpot balls, while Jeroce Consumer Goods Trading said its shipment contained steamed buns. “Both consignees will face appropriate legal sanctions and cases,” said Ramiro. BOC Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service director Jeoffrey Tacio said the operation was carried out after they received information about possibly misdeclared goods.

During the inspection, CIIS operatives discovered that the shipment consigned to the Daniry Consumer Goods Trading contained frozen whole duck, frozen chicken thigh, and frozen duck upper leg from China worth P75 million.
