[아시아뉴스통신=페이 기자] National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued an order stopping ABS-CBN broadcasts of TV Plus channels in Metro Manila and services of Sky Cable owned by Lopez company.
The franchise of Sky Direct's parent Sky Cable Corporation also expired on May 4, along with that of media giant ABS-CBN.
“Upon the expiration of R.A. No. 7969, Sky Cable Corporation no longer has a valid and subsisting congressional franchise to install, operate, or maintain a Direct Broadcast Satellite Service,” based from the order read.
Sky Direct has more than 1.5 million subscribers nationwide including those in remote areas who do not receive television signal.
They were asked to respond 10 days from receipt of the order.
However, subscribers of Sky Cable and Sky Fiber internet services will not be affected according to the company.
