[아시아뉴스통신=페이 기자] All 19 barangays of the municipality of Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte have been equipped with patient care centers for suspected and probable COVID-19 patients, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said Monday. "Sto. Tomas town is a topnotcher when it comes to receiving locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and we saw the need to put them in a facility closer to their families," Evangelista said in an interview at the sidelines of the 14th founding anniversary of the Army's 10th Infantry Division here.
Evangelista said all the town's patient care centers are currently occupied by LSIs who availed of the "Hatid Tulong" initiative of the national government. "We established these facilities to respond to the influx of LSIs coming into our municipality, which had has exhausted our Covid funds," the mayor added.
The patient care centers, he said, are equipped with disinfectants and thermal scanners while the patients receive food supplies from the barangays and the municipal government. Evangelista said each patient care center is guarded to avoid patients from escaping, in response to an incident last month in which three LSIs escaped from one of the town’s quarantine facility.
