[아시아뉴스통신=페이 기자] Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Lacson led the provincial government employees in returning to work on Monday, five days after the Provincial Capitol building was closed for decontamination as a safety precaution against COVID-19. “It is now safe for our employees to return to work... The Provincial Capitol and its employees are safe,” the governor said in a message addressed to employees on Sunday night.
Lacson, who reported to the Governor’s Office on the first day of the work week, said that offices compromised by visits of confirmed cases have been decontaminated while the employees stayed home. He added that during the lockdown, the province identified seven more employees who contracted Covid-19 and prevented the spread of the virus in their workplaces. So far, there are 22 confirmed cases among the provincial government employees.
Lacson said they have been isolated and given the proper care and treatment in the province’s health facilities, adding that eight of the 22 have fully recovered and returned home after complying with the 14-day quarantine and testing negative on the second swab. Some 142 employees identified as initial close contacts tested negative, he added. “Let us then resume full operations observing the health protocols such as the wearing of face masks and face shields.
The people of Negros need us to assume our posts and deliver much needed basic services once again,” the governor said. On August 12, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, announced the lockdown of the Capitol building and its premises for five days for disinfection.
