[아시아뉴스통신=페이 기자] The Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas on Monday appealed to the private hospitals here to retain the 30-percent bed allocation for Covid-19 patients in spite of the decreasing number of active cases.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH-7 chief pathologist and spokesperson on Covid-19, said although there is a remarkable improvement in the critical care utilization rate, the Health department wants to maintain the alert status because of the efforts of the local government units in reopening the economy.
The city’s critical care utilization management rate as of Aug. 22 has decreased to 22.8 percent as compared to 30 percent a week ago, while the ICU (intensive care unit) utilization rate is now at 32.7 percent and Covid-19 bed utilization rate at 21.5 percent.
“As of the moment, our appeal to them is let it stay as it is, at 30 percent, to preserve all of this because we are slowly opening our economy. Our businesses are starting to open up,” Loreche said in a virtual press briefing.
The health care facilities in Cebu should also be ready with the “last streak of quarantine status” – the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) – and the arrival of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
