[Asia News = Reporter Reakkana] MANILA, Philippines—Luke Gebbie concluded his Tokyo Olympics campaign, failing to qualify for the semifinals of the men’s 50-meter freestyle swimming competition at Tokyo Aquatics Center Friday, PH Inquirer reported.

Though Gebbie topped Heat 5, his time of 22.84 seconds wasn’t enough to crack the top 16. He finished 41st overall in the heats. The United States’ Caeleb Dressel, who already owns the gold medals in the men’s 100-meter freestyle and men’s 4×100 freestyle relay, topped the heats with a time of 21.32 seconds.

France’s Florent Manaudou came in second at 21.65 seconds with Greece’s Kristian Gkolomeev was at third at 21.66 seconds. The men’s 50-meter freestyle is Gebbie’s final event in the Summer Games as he also didn’t advance in the men’s 100-meter freestyle, where he set a new national mark.
