예수와 합하여 세례 받은 자의 믿음(롬 6:1-7)
“무릇 그리스도 예수와 합하여 세례를 받은 우리는 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례 받은 줄을 알지 못하느뇨”(롬 6:3).
거듭난 의인들은 예수님이 받으신 세례와 연합하여 세례를 받습니다.
성도가 받는 세례는 예수님께서 받으신 세례를 믿는 믿음의 고백입니다.
하나님의 아들이신 예수님께서 왜 인간인 세례 요한에게 세례를 받으셨습니까?
예수님은 인류의 대표자인 세례 요한에게 안수의 방법으로 세례를 받으심으로 세상의 죄를 넘겨받으셨습니다.
“예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 ‘이제 허락하라 우리가 이와 같이 하여 모든 의를 이루는 것이 합당하니라’ 하신대 이에 요한이 허락하는지라”(마 3:15).
여기에서 “이와 같이 하여”라는 말씀은 헬라어 성경에서 (이전이나 이후의 일을 언급하며) “이런 방식으로,” 즉 속죄 제사의 “안수의 방식으로”라는 뜻입니다.
구약의 속죄 제사에는 1) 흠 없는 제물, 2) 안수(죄를 넘김), 3) 제물의 피(죽음)라는 세 가지 조건이 충족되어야 했습니다.
따라서 흠 없는 제물로 오신 예수님께서 인류의 대표자인 세례 요한에게 안수의 형식으로 받으신 세례는 세상의 모든 죄가 예수님께 단번에 넘어간 구원의 역사입니다.
예수님께서 요단강 물에서 받으신 세례와 십자가의 피를 둘 다 믿는 자는 모든 죄의 사함을 받고 의인으로 거듭납니다.
예수님의 세례의 능력을 믿는 자는 자기의 옛사람이 예수님과 함께 십자가에서 죽었다는 사실을 믿습니다.
“무릇 그리스도 예수와 합하여 세례를 받은 우리는 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례 받은 줄을 알지 못하느뇨”(롬 6:3).
이와 같이 성도들은 예수님께서 받으신 세례의 능력을 믿어서 거듭난 믿음을 몸으로 고백하기 위하여 세례를 받습니다.
예수님의 세례를 믿어서 자기의 옛사람이 예수님 안으로 들어간 자에게는 예수님의 죽음이 자기의 죽음이며 예수님의 부활이 자기의 부활이 되었습니다.
거듭난 우리는 세례의 예식을 통해서 “물과 피로 임하신”(요일 5:6) 예수 그리스도의 한 영원한 제사를 믿는 믿음을 고백합니다.
The faith of those who were baptized into Jesus (Rom 6:1-7)
"Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?" (Rom 6:3)
The righteous who have been born again are baptized in union with the baptism that Jesus received.
The baptism a believer receives is a confession of faith in the baptism that Jesus received.
Why was Jesus, the Son of God, baptized by a man, John the Baptist?
Jesus took over the sins of the world by being baptized by the laying on of hands by John the Baptist, the representative of humankind.
"But Jesus answered and said to him, 'Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.' Then he allowed Him" (Mat 3:15).
The words "for thus" here in the Greek Scriptures are "in this way," that is, "in the manner of the laying on of hands" of the sin offering.
In the Old Testament sin offering, three conditions had to be satisfied:
An offering without blemish
Laying on of hands (transforming sins)
The blood of the sacrifice (death)
Therefore, the baptism that Jesus received through the laying on of hands by John the Baptist, the representative of humanity, is His act of salvation in which all the sins of the world were passed onto Jesus at once.
Believers in Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River and His blood on the cross can receive the remission of all their sins and be born again as the righteous.
Those who believe in the power of Jesus' baptism believe that their old self died on the cross with Jesus.
"Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?" (Rom 6:3)
In this way, believers are baptized to confess their faith with their bodies by believing in the power of Jesus' baptism.
For those who believe in the baptism of Jesus and that their old self enters into Jesus, the death of Jesus is their own death, and the resurrection of Jesus becomes their resurrection.
Through the rite of baptism, we who have been born again profess our faith in the eternal sacrifice of Jesus Christ, "who came by water and blood" (1 John 5:6).
