[아시아뉴스통신=조날드 타파난 기자] The Philippine National Police (PNP) celebrates this Thursday their 119th anniversary virtually with a live simulcast from the police headquarters and in all 17 regional offices across the country.
PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said that the celebration focuses on the mandate and resiliency of the PNP at a time of pandemic with the theme: “Towards A Pandemic-Resilient PNP: Deploying Digital Technologies and Adopting Protective Protocols in The New Normal”. "We found a modest yet effective way of celebrating our 119th Police Service Anniversary during MECQ. Our men and women will virtually join us from the 1,766 police stations, 80 police provincial offices under the 17 police regional offices, and the 33 national support units across the country,” Gamboa said in a statement.
Police Service Anniversary is celebrated in commemoration of the establishment of the Philippine Constabulary as the country’s first insular police force founded on August 8, 1901. This year’s rites will allow guests and police personnel to join in the ceremony through live interactive platforms as an alternative to the traditional full-dress parade and review ceremony in observance of strict health protocols imposed by the government.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is expected to read President Rodrigo Duterte’s message to the police force. Gamboa will lead the presentation of awards to PNP units and personnel cited for outstanding performance and achievements in service over the past year.
