하나님은 우리의 믿음을 기뻐하신다(히 11:1-6)
“믿음이 없이는 기쁘시게 못하나니 하나님께 나아가는 자는 반드시 그가 계신 것과 또한 그가 자기를 찾는 자들에게 상 주시는 이심을 믿어야 할찌니라”(히 11:6).
믿음이란, 하나님과 그의 말씀을 믿는 것입니다.
첫째, 믿음이란 창조주 하나님이 계시다는 사실을 믿는 것입니다.
하나님은 우주(宇宙)와 그 안의 만물을 지으신 분입니다.
우리 은하에서 제일 가까운 안드로메다 은하계까지의 거리가 250만 광년입니다.
그런데 우리가 아는 우주(the known universe)에만 은하들이 2,000억 개~1조 개가 있다고 합니다.
이런 광대한 우주가 생겨나는데, 10의-32승 초가 걸렸다고 하버드스미소니언 천체물리학 연구소가 발표했습니다.
이렇게 어마어마한 우주를 말씀으로 지을 수 있는 분은 전능하신 하나님뿐입니다.
“집마다 지은이가 있으니 만물을 지으신 이는 하나님이시니라”(히 3:4).
둘째, 하나님은 자기를 찾는 자들에게 상(賞) 주시는 분입니다.
하나님은 당신의 외아들을 우리와 같은 사람으로 보내주셨습니다.
흠 없는 제물(어린양)로 오신 성자 예수님은 “물과 피로 임”(요일 5:6)하셔서 우리의 모든 죄를 대속해 주셨습니다.
이제 누구든지 구원의 하나님께 나아가는 자는 의인으로 거듭나서 영생의 상을 받습니다.
또한 거듭난 의인들은 하나님의 뜻을 좇아가면서, 하나님의 도우심과 공급하심을 경험합니다.
믿음이란 하나님의 말씀을 믿는 것입니다.
아브라함은 갈 바를 알지 못하고 나아갔으나 말씀을 좇아갔습니다.
거듭난 우리들은 믿음으로 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 믿음의 사람들이 되어야 하겠습니다.
God is pleased with our faith (Heb 11:1-6)
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb 11:6).
Faith is believing in God and His Word.
First, our faith believes that there is God the Creator.
God is the Creator of the universe and everything in it.
The distance from our galaxy to the nearest galaxy, Andromeda, is 2.5 million light-years.
However, it is said that there are 200 billion to 1 trillion galaxies in the known universe alone.
It took minus 32 squares of one second for such a vast universe to form, the Harvard Smithsonian Institute for Astrophysics said.
Only Almighty God could create such a vast universe.
"For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God" (Heb 3:4).
Second, God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
God sent His only Son in the same flesh as us.
The Son Jesus, who came as a sacrifice without blemish (the Lamb), "came by water and blood" (1 John 5:6) to atone for all our sins.
Now, anyone who comes to the God of salvation will be born again as a righteous person and will receive the reward of eternal life.
Also, the righteous who have been born again experience God's help and mercy as they follow God's will.
Faith is to believe in the Word of God.
Abraham did not know where he was going.
But he went ahead just by following God's Word.
We who are born again must become people of faith who please God with faith.
